Flower Demon’s Inn Index

Introducing my third project: Flower Demon’s Inn! It’s part of the author’s “joyous escape style and arrival of budding warmth” in her light mystery fantasy series.

This is probably one of those somewhat saccharine novels I have read, not saying I have read a ton of novels, but rather I tend to stick to easygoing and cute novels. This novel fits the bill 😛

This novel takes you on a journey with Shao Zi (literally means a spoon), a peony demon and Scholar (he’s referred to as that) as they try to protect the Tong Fu inn and meet several customers with interesting stories of their own. The OTP interactions are so adorable along with the group of flower demons that reside in inn’s yard.

As Shao Zi reaches out to customers, Scholar protects her from behind and often times in secret. From each nosebleed to herbal soup, the past will resurface and by then, our couple is more connected than we thought. To summarize the novel from start to finish: it’s too damn sweet!

The author of this novel is Yi Mei Tong Qian (meaning copper coin) hence her avatar is a female sitting on a coin. She is a Taiwanese author hence from the above picture (courtesy of Yi Mei Tong Qian’s weibo) she mentioned about a simplified Chinese version. The traditional Chinese book cover is used in the 1^st chapter of this novel. This novel is one of the only novels with a traditional contact and an overseas contact. Overseas meaning China or any other country besides Taiwan. The simplified version from the overseas contact mainly cater to people who can read simplified Chinese. Brief summary of the weibo post above: the simplified Chinese version is more sharp in language since edited, and the administration (publishing folks) decided to change the title to Peony’s Inn. Her jjwxc version (traditional Chinese) is the not condensed version of the story. Also the book was published in September (she said: see “Meng” Scholar and Shao Zi September).

As of August 16, 2016 Flower Demon’s Inn had sold the rights to television show, movie, webisodes (web drama), and comics.

Personally, I prefer the more detailed version (not condensed) and will be translating from there (it’s also the version most readers have access to and most likely the full traditional Chinese version).
