Aside from simply picking this title as something memorable based upon alliteration, contemporary online Chinese romance novels are a sub-sub group of its own and have gain a rapid popularity with the surge of novel-adapted dramas; they can be considered a medium of literature regardless of the varying opinions on the “merit” aspect.
Take my ratings, short reviews, and any opinion-based assignments with a grain of salt.
I will try to update this list as frequently as possible.
I included two sections: novels which I have read and novels which I am currently reading. The later will be updated into the former section once I finished a novel.

Short Review:
Short Review: A time-traveling story with a wuxia setting that centers around romance. I find the actual plot cliche, but the novel itself mostly banks on the comedic banter between the characters ^.^ The heroine is a bit unfortunate with her situation, but she tries her best to stay alive and of course voice out her opinions. A very typical Jiu Xiao Qi humor novel with a cute couple ~ A bit angst near end but that’s pretty brief.

*rubs hands* It’s so great to talk with fellow book junkies, lol! I like novel review/recommendation threads the most.
And speaking of recs… You prefer xianxia, right? But how do you feel about the revenge/rebirth genre? I don’t think I’d enjoy when the revenge is really extremely bloody (though I’m kinda curious about “Princess Wei Yang”), but when the heroine dishes back just want the villains have done to her in a previous life–or makes them fall in the traps that they set up for her in this life–like in “Rebirth of a Malicious Empress of Military Lineage,” it can be very very satisfying.
Also, I see that you’re following “Mei Gongqing” (I have my eyes on this novel, too). Do you have any other recs in the clan intrigue/slice-of-life genres? I’m following “Concubine’s Daughter, Minglan” these days and enjoying it very much.

Princess Wei Young definitely has cruel methods. Her approach is more of “the more suffering my enemies get the better” as opposed to other revenge/rebirth ancient novels where the female lead just want to get rid of them. Heard good things about “Concubine’s Daughter Minglan”. Probably waiting until it finishes since it’s a 200+ novel that I don’t see myself reading at the moment. 《婢女生死契 》by 明星 <— this one was introduced to me about a girl and her doctor where she cannot speak (but can sing… clearly science is not factored into this lol). At first she thought he was a caring doctor and that he will treat her condition but it turned out to be false. She got heartbroken and decided to seduce some prince (who was considered the enemy). Doctor ML did not realize that the so called "object" he took home turns out to be his happiness. He was able to find her, but only her corpse remained. -cue the rebirth-

Forgot to add that 《婢女生死契 》The Life and Death Contract/Agreement of a Slave Girl (servant) by 明星 Ming Xing … the guy is not actually cruel but he’s pretty harsh with his words and can’t express himself. The female lead understands him but she doesn’t bother telling him his issue. I just remembered being pissed off at the male in the prologue/intro,but it ease down eventually lol. I forgot to say something about Mei Gongqing. One of the better rebirth type of novel because she doesn’t go back to her old ways and she learned to tackle on various annoying problems. I’m fine with any genre but I have the tendencies to read xianxia novels. Gone through some average xianxia ones so I guess my interest has waned on xianxia a bit.

Currently, I haven’t been reading Chinese novels as of the late.
For Japanese novel wise I enjoy 薬屋のひとりごと
(Kusuriya no Hitorigoto)by Natsu Hyuuga and translated by AuriCa at Creative Novels where the story is set in a similar environment as ancient China and female lead is quirky and smart.
I enjoy 재혼 황후 (Remarried Empress) by 알파타르트 and is translated at wordexcerpt. The angst for this is so strong though.
However, Chinese novels wise, I would go from the list of novels I want to translate for the one-chapter series lol:
Bandits (Legend of Fei) 有匪 by Priest – Solid wuxia novel and there’s a drama adaptation coming up for this one! A bit draggy and long novel, but fairly decent world building and character development. Priest writes quality 😀
The Moon Bright For You 明月曾照江东寒 by Ding Mo – It’s on my read to list lol I’m merely mentioning it because I might check this novel out.
Going to Kaifeng Hall and Posing as a Civil Servant 《到开封府混个公务员》by Ou’yang Moxin 欧阳墨心 – Saw this on hamster428’s book club list, I’ve checked it out due to Justice Bao nostalgia and it really refers back to the more famous cases and show a different perspective on those cases. It’s considered gender bender and it takes a lot of chapters before ML even realizes FL is a female 😐 Overall, decent novel, but too darn long.
Shengshi Tea Fragrance (or can refer to the Shengshi Teahouse) 《盛世茶香》by Shisan Chun 十三春 – Nice slice of life with family in the tea business. Male lead is great and so is female lead. The supporting characters…debatable lol. The novel is pretty long and the one I read has 272 chapters total with epilogues included…. I don’t recalled finishing it lol
Roufeng《柔风》by 小狐濡尾 Xiao Hu Ru Wei – Heard positive things about this novel and there’s an introduction by hamster428… very high on my to read list lol I will get to it soon. Just throwing it out there in case you want more options

Priest is mostly known for her BL stories and 有匪 is one of her “rare” BG stories. Since I don’t really read her BL works (although I see a lot of people enjoy them), I would say that 有匪 is a fairly good work I like from her. Can’t say favorite since I barely read her other novels 😅

Are there novels similar to Demon/Little Orchid rare is the writer who can write a character like Little Orchid and not make you frustrated but I really like her a lot. I prefer Xianxia wuxia and my fave novel of all time is Pillow Book

Hello, in terms of novels similar to this…. I often see it being the cutesy girl and the big bad boss lol but in a xianxia setting or wuxia setting which are both ancient times… I would say

– Not really similar stories, but you get a bickering couple that overcome obstacles and situations which deepen their love. As for power gap wise, not really too much, but the male is stronger than the female.

I finished Monarch Industry and Legend of Chu Qiao. The first after watching the Rebel Princess drama wich btw is SUPERBE. Worth every minute watching. First story that Made me feel anxious and stressed out as it advances, never got that feeling before. But the novel is not that way so….about Legend of Chu Qiao, what an extraordinary story. It’s LOOONG ( about 12 books) but it’s sooo good. Incredible complex, savage, cruel, but with a beautiful love story that is not average. Enemies from the minute one that intended murder against each other several times . Very very satisfying to read. Like the most, there is some clichés and situations well known by everybody but they fit the story well and isn’t boring. Heard that there is some copyright issues about it but I have to say, asían novelists are SO prolific! There’s always a bunch of works coming out and at some point it’s hard to be completely original. The plots, the dialogues, etc. repeats or it remembers u another stories. Somebody said that Shakespeare already wrote about every human emotion and motivations and ever since there’s nothing new, and to me that’s correct. We’re still humans right?
