Waiting for a Sunny Day(等一个晴天) Chapter 1.1.2

Sorry for a late update >.<

Next update might be slower because finals are coming up along with a project I have to do. Also, I’m planning on translating all of part 2 of chapter 1 instead of splitting them into two smaller parts like I’ve done with part 1. To keep the title a tad bit shorter I’m going to titled it as Waiting for a Sunny Day (could be summer day… basically a clear day which is often associated with sunny days or summer). A bit note on the Xiao Qing’s name: the character Qing (晴) means clear… which is included in the title. Hence why I’m titling it as Waiting for a Sunny Day(等一个晴天) instead of including the other title. Enjoy your reading~

Xiao Qing turned to the side and was just about to speak sentimental words such as “When I go, remember to take care yourself mother” to improve mother and daughter affections, but she was interrupted by an indifferent voice, ” You dress like this, isn’t it for climbing?”

Xiao Qing looked down at her clothes. tToday she was indeed wearing a bit on the thin side, and it was extremely simple–blue jean shorts, white T-shirt, cell phone hanging in front of her chest, walking in sneakers while wrapping around waist is a small pouch with a faded yellow silk tassel swaying incessantly there. Such attire is considered “a reclusive in the city”, and was not like a lady from a wealthy family going to study abroad. Rather, it was like a person going climbing, or a “fake”.

Xiao Qing smiled and explained, “Like this is easy to move around.”

Yue Ling rolled her eyes, and coldly said: “What easy movement? Making you push the plane??”

Seeing Xiao Qing still smile unshakably and not taking her words seriously, Yue Ling can not help but frown. She pointed to her [Xiao Qing’s] cell phone on her chest and said with a disdainful tone, “How many people still stick a monkey sticker on their cell phone?”

Xiao Qing smiled and said, “YoYo the monkey, it was a gift.”

After a moment of silence, Yue Ling turned and glared Xiao Qing, “You are already twenty-two years old, but how come you are wearing clothes that lack class and taste? Grown-up girls should always learn to dress and wear makeup properly. When I was twenty, I had given birth to you.”

Xiao Qing raised her head and displayed a sincere “understanding” expression as she said, “I know Mom, I will pay attention.”

Yue Ling looked at her helplessly, “Now that you can wear whatever you want, after you arrive at New York and Jun Ze comes to pick you up, you put on these clothes, and do not let people laugh at you, you hear me?”

Xiao Qing obediently nodded, “Yes.”

Strategy of “using softness to conquer strength” in oder to deal with mom was  still very useful. People would say that no one would hit someone who is smiling. Thus Xiao Qing smiled as so and Yue Ling would not continue to scold. In fact, last night, her mother slipped her a gorgeous feminine outfit, but ultimately, Xiao Qing still chose this simple convenient ‘climbing outfit”. Xiao Qing does not wear any of the clothes her mother bought for reasons: firstly, she did not want to become an animal in which others would cluster around, and secondly, those clothes exposed the area too much to the point when she puts them on she felt like a naked person running madly across the streets.

This morning seeing the way Xiao Qing dresses, Yue Ling’s face darken immediately with her sharp eyes that seemed to say this person isn’t someone I gave birth to. Indeed, compared to someone 1.80 m [around 5 foot and 11 inches), walking in high heels, wearing a sexy dress, having a beautiful hairstyle, being capable and elegant while successful in one’s career like Yue Ling, Xiao Qing resembled a small village maidservant beside Empress Dowager Cixi.

Looking at their faces, the mother and her daughter actually look more like two sisters.

Only looking at their outfits, looked like a mistress and her servant.

It’s not really much of a wonder for when Yue Ling gave birth to Xiao Qing she was in her twenties, she knew how to maintain and take care of herself thus now still looked pretty young. Xiao Qing was never concerned about those fashion brands and cosmetics. She is a female geek and most of her attention were always on food, animation, fiction and film. She does not know where they opened new fashion shows, but always focused energy on which animation section was being broadcast. After finished washing her face, she would put on skin moisturizer Dabao SOD, and would wear printed Mashimaro nightdress to sleep. She loves to eat spicy hot pot, loves to eat lamb kebabs on the sides of streets, and also loves to pull her sisters along with her to stroll around the streets. From a hundred dollars of clothes down to 30 clothes to mix-n-match at home, she would walk around the discounted town shops when bored and idle. Occasionally she does online gaming to make one’s way in the battle while carrying a broadsword as swordswoman.

Every time she saw Xiao Qing wearing “climbing clothes” in front of her eyes, Yue Ling’s face becomes very strange. In front of her feminine friends’ astonished eyes, Yue Ling would stiffly point at Xiao Qing and said, “This is … my… daughter”. People next to her would usually smile and say, “Your daughter looks just like you, good skin, good figure too.” Would still cleverly say one final taciturn statement,” If she knew how to dress up, she will be more beautiful. ”

Because her parents are very busy, from young Xiao Qing was brought to live with her grandpa. Every time her mother complained that she does not dress well, she smiled and said, “My old outdated style is from living for a  a long time with grandpa. When I wore a floral cotton-padded jacket and short pants, grandpa would say I was special and good-looking. ”

Hearing her daughter say that, Yue Ling’s complexion instantly blackened as she said “as you wish”. Then she turned around.

Xiao Qing looked at her neck that became stiff as a goose’s neck. She could not help but snickered…

A few days ago the precious daughter of Uncle Zhang has gotten married. Uncle Liu’s daughter was forced to go on blind date. Howling grieves of all fellow women/girls who don’t have boyfriends are forced to go on blind date by their parents, Xiao Qing was very clever in choosing to study abroad for graduate school.

She deliberately dressed as a simple schoolgirl because it allowed her parents to think that “my daughter is still a student, too early” idea, and dispel the “my daughter is all grown up and needs to consider about marriage and future,” idea. If there is a day when one dressed up in a mature, sexy appearance, her parents will think daughter is mature woman who is lonely, and quickly plan for her to find a husband?

They say that marriage is a grave. Xiao Qing wanted a free and easy life for several more years. Who wants to lie in a grave so early?

Xiao Qing counting one’s chicken before they hatched (plan) sounded great, but she did not expect that this time in New York, there is a grave waiting for her–a super grave tailor-made for her.

As the proverb say, if you love her, send her to New York because it’s heaven there. If you hate her, send her to New York because it’s hell there. After a much later time, Xiao Qing finally understood her mother’s feelings for her was truly one of a love-hate.
